Happenings

So what's happened over the last week? Seems like everyday we have somewhere to be at some point during the day. I guess that's normal and will only increase as the kids get older and get involved in more activities.

Thursday was filled with The Little Gym (MOPS) in the morning and gymnastics that afternoon.

Friday was pretty chill except that Abe would not nap, so I felt like I got nothing done. We spent the day trying to catch up on laundry, dishes, and vacuuming.

Saturday and Sunday were spent working at the tax office. Chad did very well with the kids. Abe seems to be adjusting better to me being gone occasionally. I think I worked 12 hours total this weekend, which should make for a decent paycheck!

Yesterday we met some other homeschoolers at the local park. We spent 3 hours playing on the equipment, running relay races and eating our picnic lunches. I have been bad about forgetting my camera lately, so I am going to do better *I hope*!

We are heading to a different park today to meet one of my dearest friends. I always look forward to talking with her, she is such an encouragement. Our friendship has changed and matured over the last 12 years, I count her a true blessing in my life. If all goes as planned, we will also be bringing one of Piper's friends home to spend the night.

The Coatimundi

Yesterday afternoon the kids and I took out to get baby & wedding shower gifts and a birthday gift for some upcoming events we are invited to. When we go to Bed, Bath & Beyond, we always run into the pet store next door because they have rabbits, hamsters, fish, etc. all of which thrill my kids! Little did we know that we would run into one of these:

There was a couple in the store with a coatimundi (relative of the raccoon) on a leash. After talking with them, I found out that they have 5 of these in their home and treat them like regular pets. They let my children pet it, even Abe. I was surprised how docile it was, eventhough I had never really heard of them before. When we got home, Piper and I looked it up on the computer to get some facts on the coatimundi. It's pretty awesome to find a science lesson for her while we are out running errands!

Children's Museum

Tuesday we headed to The Children's Musuem with some friends. The museum was pretty crowded with school groups but we tried to steer clear of them and play in the unoccupied rooms. The kids were pretty well behaved, so much so, we got doughnuts on the way home to reward their good behavior! My camera kept trying to die on me so I have only a few silly shots from the trip.

Waterhose

We had such a great weekend with the warm spring weather! I had the windows open to feel the fresh breezes in the house and the kids had plenty of outdoor playtime. Piper had a friend come Sunday and spend the night. After our haircuts Monday, the kids drug out the water hose and proceeded to drench themselves! My favorite picture of them:

Snow to Sunshine

The weather here has gone from freezing to spring-like in just 4 days! The highs over the last two days and today are in the 70's, almost 80. We spent some time outdoors Friday and yesterday, although Chad watched the kids several hours yesterday for me to work at the tax office.

Piper cleaned my van with a bottle of glass cleaner and paper towels. She was so proud of her work, she asked, "Did you know your van was really white? I bet you thought it was brown!" She was so funny making fun of our filthy vehicle.


And Cohen played trucks for hours. He has a few trucks that are badly behaved and they get into "fights" as seen in the picture below! Boys are so creative, just in a way foreign to me. All of his toys are torn up and he doesn't care, it's because his toys like to fight :)


On a totally different note, Abe had his check-up Friday. He was healthy of course and his size is starting to even out. His weight is actually on the charts now for his age! He was 23lb 11oz (actually a little lighter than I thought he was) and 90% for weight, 28.5 inches tall and 70% of height and his head circumference was 80% percentile but I cannot remember what it measured??

Off to spend a beautiful Sunday with the family!!

Snow Days

Monday morning we woke up to a gorgeous white blanket of snow outside and freezing house inside! We lost power late Sunday night and all five cuddled on the couch trying to stay warm as the temperature in the house dropped to a chilly 52 degrees by sunrise. It seemed to stress me out more than the kids because they woke up raring to go, throwing on snow clothes and racing outdoors. All I wanted was a warm shower and some coffee, oh to be a kid again! Chad seems to be fighting off a case of the flu so he could not get out from under the covers but Granddaddy trucked the kids and I to my sister-in-laws for a day of sledding (and she still had power!). The kids spent hours outside sledding with their cousins!
