Passed out

I was getting Piper ready for soccer practice and laid Abe in his baby "gym" only to find him passed out cold when it was time to go!

Cats will get into anything...

I had left my stroller in the rain Friday so we opened it up to dry over the weekend. It must have been pretty cozy to George (Cohen's cat)!

Happy Birthday!

We have so many October birthdays in our family. My sister's is the 7th, Nanny's the 9th, Chad's the 11th, other sister the 21st, and a new cousin the 31st (and also another cousin the 4th, who is out-of-state). We had a gathering at my house on Saturday night to celebrate and just see each other. It seems we all get so busy with our own lives that making family time has to be a planned event.

Our menu consisted of tortilla chips with salsa & guacamole, chili beans with the necessary fixings, cornbread muffins and 2 desserts. I had worried so much about feeding so many people since that has not been something I have done before, but everyone raved about the chili! I am a decent cook and I didn't even know it :)

Here are the birthday girls:

And my newest cousin who is closer in age to my children than me (obviously):

Sweet Max

Piper and Max have a special relationship. She has such a tender heart when it comes to animals, especially her own pets. We had to tie Max up in the backyard for a short period of time and Piper felt sorry for him. I looked outside and saw Max and her like this:

Yes, he is wrapped up in a blanket and there is a pillow below his head! And the really crazy thing is that he stayed like that for quite a while!

Sillies

The kids had the sillies yesterday and came flying into the kitchen dressed like this:

Although I should be embarrassed to admit, my first reaction was to fuss at them for getting into Daddy's work shirts (which I knew I would end up folding and placing back in the drawers). But I held my tongue and giggled with them at their silliness.

I am really trying to enjoy these days with young kids and not constantly stay on everyone's case about keeping the house clean. It is a struggle for me, but laughing with the kids felt so much better than fussing at them!

The Bumbo

So, I didn't have a Bumbo seat with my other 2 kids, but I kinda like it! Abe is just 4 months old and no where close to sitting unassisted, but the Bumbo gives him the support he needs to sit. He seems to really dig it but he is getting so big, I wonder how long his chubby little legs will fit in the leg holes!

Abe had his 4 month check-up this past week and he is weighing in at 20 lbs 1 oz! He was off the charts on his weight and 90% on his height (although I cannot remember how long he was). His check-up went well and the ped was not concerned with his size. She says once he gets mobile he will level off, we'll see!
